Route Features
Old Pittwater Road
This stretch sees heavy commuter traffic and includes frequent bus lanes connecting to the Brookvale Bus Depot on Pittwater Road, which services over 200 buses daily.
Our Tip: Stay alert to the bus lane regulations - your drive may cross restricted lanes briefly, within the permitted 100 m rule.
Pittwater Road (A8)
Part of the A8, linking Northern Beaches to the city. It shifts from four to six lanes along it's duration, and has traffic volumes in the tens of thousands daily.
Our Tip: Use this section to master safe lane positioning and correct mirror use. Keeping a steady pace and not drifting is vital on multi-lane roads.
Sydenham Road
Running through both light industrial and residential zones, it features on-street parking and local properties.
Our Tip: Pay attention to parked vehicles pulling out, and hidden driveway access in use.
Mitchell Road Roundabouts
Mitchell Road intersects with Sydenham and Orchard via single-lane roundabouts, which many learners find tricky.
Our Tip: Take your time, and treat each roundabout separately using the correct technique for each: slow down, look right, give way, and signal clearly.
Our app includes all active Brookvale test routes. Use the preview to pick a route, or practise them all for a real test-day feel.

Public Transport: The nearest bus stop is about 2 kilometres from the centre which makes for a bit of a walk, so be sure to factor in extra travel time if using it.
Quiet Hour: If you prefer a calm environment, during this time lights are dimmed where possible, background music is turned down, and mobile phones are encouraged to be on silent.
Payments: The centre accepts cash, EFTPOS, and credit or debit cards for all services offered.
Book Your Test
You’ll need to book an appointment for your practical test in advance as walk-ins aren’t available at Brookvale. The easiest way to book is through the Service NSW website, where you can choose a time that works for you. You’ll then get confirmation via email with everything you need to bring.
Tips: Make sure to check that your Learner Licence details are up to date before booking. On the day, arrive a little early so you’re not rushing - there’s a short walk from the test parking bays to the service centre.
“Great App! Definitely helps you gain confidence over the circuits involved with a particular test centre.”
