Important Route Features

Princes Highway (A36)

One of Sydney’s busiest arterial roads, the A36 runs through Rockdale and features multiple lanes, traffic lights, bus stops, and turning bays. It’s used by both local and through traffic, so it can get congested.

  • Our Tip: Keep your lane positioning steady and your speed appropriate. Signal early before changing lanes, and watch for sudden stops.

Station Street Roundabout

Near Rockdale train station, this compact roundabout links to Railway Street and Queen Victoria Street and is frequently used by pedestrians crossing to the station.

  • Our Tip: Slow down early, give way to your right, and be mindful of pedestrians - especially those near the station access.

Forest Road

A busy main road lined with shops and frequent bus traffic. The section near Willison Road and Lewis Street often features cars pulling in and out of parallel parking and delivery zones.

  • Our Tip: Look far ahead, check your mirrors often, and lower your speed accordingly. Always be ready for parked cars pulling out or pedestrians stepping between vehicles.

Queen Victoria Street Roundabouts

This stretch includes a series of small, single-lane roundabouts between Paine Street and Station Street. These may feel repetitive - but they’re great for testing your consistency.

Driver Testing & Parking: Appointments are required for driving tests, and dedicated test bays are available just off Rockdale Plaza Drive (under 75m away).

Accessibility Features: Rockdale provides a hearing loop, Auslan video interpreting, live-captioning, wheelchair-accessible counters, toilets, and at least five mobility parking spots.
