Route Features

Cowper Street / Kokera Street Roundabout

This roundabout, just outside the test centre, is often used at the start and/or end of the test, highlighting the importance of making a good starting and finishing impression.

  • Our Tip: Navigating it smoothly and confidently will set the tone for your whole test. Demonstrate right from the start that you can follow correct roundabout procedure.

Newcastle Road / Blue Gum Road Intersection

This junction - which includes a small roundabout - is considered tricky by learners. Feedback includes high traffic volumes and occasional limited visibility.

  • Our Tip: On approach, reduce your speed early to maintain control, check all around for traffic - especially from Blue Gum Rd - and prepare to give way.

Newcastle Road Roundabout / Thomas Street Upgrades

Works are being carried out at the roundabout to improve traffic flow, so keep a look out for any route updates before test day for some last-minute practise.

  • Our Tip: Even with works being undertaken, treat it as you would any roundabout: slowing down, giving priority to circulating vehicles, sticking to your lane, and signalling before exiting.

Cressington Way Suburban Connector

Running through quieter residential areas bridging Cowper Street to Newcastle Road, this narrows, and will give the examiner a clear insight into your low-speed control.

  • Our Tip: Stay alert! Watch for any traffic entering from the many driveways and side roads, whilst looking ahead for parked cars or pedestrians.
